Bitumen Black Corrugated Sheets
Our bitumen black corrugated sheets are ideal for use in agricultural and industrial applications including sheds, animal housing, and outdoor roofing. The sheets provide excellent dimensional stability and, in time, develop a full intense colouring through the natural oxidation of the bitumen.
Our black corrugated sheets are extremely light and flexible whilst still incredibly strong. They are resistant to external agents and acids and are 100% asbestos-free.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Corrugated Bitumen Sheets Any Good?
Our black corrugated sheets are heavy-duty and well-suited for outdoor, industrial, and roofing applications. They are generally considered to be a great medium to long-term solution and are one of the most popular roofing sheets available.
How Long Does Corrugated Bitumen Roofing Last?
Typically, corrugated bitumen roofing will last from 20-25 years if properly installed and looked after.
Are Bitumen Roof Sheets Waterproof?
Bitumen corrugated sheets usually have excellent waterproof properties, but this will also depend on the correct installation. Improper installation may result in leaks.
Can You Cut Corrugated Bitumen Sheets?
You can cut corrugated bitumen sheets with a coarse-bladed saw or Stanley Knife. When cutting width-wise, we recommend using a circular saw or coarse-bladed saw. For more complex shapes, tin snips give better control.
Roof Preparation
For roof pitches below 10°, the surface should be fully boarded with plywood or a similar material for proper support. For roof pitches above 10°, battens should be spaced according to load requirements:
200kg/m² load – Battens spaced at 460mm centres
350kg/m² load – Battens spaced at 310mm centres
To enhance durability, it is recommended to treat all timber used in the roof’s supporting structure.
Sheet Overlapping
Side Lap: One corrugation to ensure a tight seal.
Head Lap: Minimum overlap of 150mm between sheets for waterproofing.
Fixing Instructions
Secure sheets using zinc-plated bitumen fixing nails.
Drive nails into the crown (highest part) of the sheet to prevent water ingress.
Use two parallel rows of nails along each side of the sheet.
Additional nails should be placed every third corrugation for extra stability.
Ventilation
To prevent condensation and mould, allow at least 50mm clearance from the roof apex. This gap promotes airflow from the eaves, through the batten cavity, and out at the ridge, maintaining a dry and well-ventilated roof space.
