FAQs
Are Solid 3mm Polycarbonate Sheets Strong?
3mm solid polycarbonate sheets are incredibly strong. Whilst lightweight, they are 200 times stronger than glass, have superior impact resistance and, with the right care, will last from 10 to 20 years.
What Thickness Solid Polycarbonate Sheet Should I Use?
The thickness of polycarbonate you use will depend entirely on the application that you need it for. For example, the below thicknesses are ideal for the outlined applications.
- 2mm-6mm solid polycarbonate - Glazing, greenhouses and other small garden structures such as sheds and outhouses.
- 10-16mm multiwall only - Lean-to’s and carports
- 25-35mm multiwall only - Conservatories, extensions and commercial applications.
How Do You Cut a 3mm Polycarbonate Sheet?
Polycarbonate sheets can be cut with either a circular saw or a jigsaw. Use a marking tool such as masking tape to mark your cutting line and carefully cut along the line. For longer lengths and thicker sheets a circular saw is ideal but for more intricate cuts and curves, consider using a jigsaw
